InTactic® Comparative Dissolution Study

Significant numbers of probiotic bacteria can be destroyed by gastric acid and digestive enzymes during their passage through the stomach. To help protect fragile bacteria, Complete Probiotic Formula contains InTactic®, an innovative acid-stable technology. InTactic®, a highly purified polysaccharide material of marine plant origin, forms a gel-like matrix that surrounds and protects the probiotic bacteria from destruction by gastric acid. This allows the friendly probiotics to survive the stomach acids and be delivered alive into the small intestines where they are released intact to exert their health promoting function. As a result, high functional potencies of live friendly probiotics are delivered where they are needed.

Acid stability of the InTactic® delivery system was compared to standard vegetarian capsules in a simulated gastrointestinal environment using USP gastric and intestinal fluids under time-controlled conditions as demonstrated in the study below.

GASTRIC FLUID
InTactic® capsules and control capsules are placed in separate vessels of gastric fluid.
After 30 minutes the InTactic® capsules are intact while the control capsules dissolve.
Note: One InTactic® capsule was removed after 30 minutes and cut to demonstrate the dry interior. This is how the InTactic® capsule appears as it enters the small intestine.
After 60 minutes the InTactic® capsules maintain their shape due to the creation of a secondary capsule.
INTESTINAL FLUID
After 60 minutes in the gastric fluid and an additional 60 minutes in the intestinal fluid, the InTactic® capsules have dissolved.

Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement take one capsule daily or as directed by a physician.
